Zak said: “It will be apna style (cooked in an authentic Asian tradition), good home cooking and good curry. If you came to my house and wanted a curry, that’s how these dishes taste.
“We’re not going to have 10,000 dishes, we could have eight or ten. We’re perfecting a more refined menu. There’s a hunger for that on Ecclesall Road. When I decided to open the restaurant, people came to me and told me it should be home style.
“I met Imran ten years ago when I was working on renovating his property and we became friends. We are like brothers now, we do everything together but this is our first joint venture.
The venue, which Zak hopes to be ready to open in two months, will have outdoor seating and will be fully licensed.
Zak added: “We are renovating the place, but we will retain aspects of what it used to be like a gallery. It will have a vintage look and provide a pleasant and relaxing ambiance. It will be cozy with dim lights, and nice and cool. We target professionals and an older generation.
“The restaurant will help enhance the diversity of the food scene in the region.”
The new venue will join a host of curry houses in Sheffield, but Zak is confident its focus on a curated menu and traditional taste will be a winning formula.
