A restaurant offering Indian dishes gives way to another in East Sacramento.
Doors to Junoon Flavors of India at 3672 J St. are temporarily closed as the business undergoes a change in ownership.
Former owner Mohit Bahl said he injured his shoulder and doctors told him he needed to rest.
Bahl told the Sacramento Bee he would be “out of commission” for the next nine months and decided to sell his business to Suman Khadka and Sushil Kuikel.
“It wasn’t COVID-19,” Bahl said of his reasoning for selling. “I had a shoulder injury. They are changing their name, but it will be an Indian restaurant.
Khadka said they are currently offering dining options, starting at $300, until their restaurant opens on Saturday, May 21.
It will be renamed “New Kathmandu Kitchen”.
“We have 10 years of cooking and business experience,” Khadka said. “We do Indian food, there are changes in the menu and we offer catering.”
Customers can call 916-942-9796 to place a food order.
Khadka said they plan to add dumplings and chow mein among other new options, adding variety to their menu.
