Bradford Indian restaurant receives prestigious award

Last week Kiplings, on Harrogate Road in Greengates, received the Gold Seal for 2021 – which is reserved for those who win an award for three or more consecutive years.

This accolade reflects its popularity with clients who both nominated and voted for them to win.

The award is given on factors such as customer feedback from the previous year, food hygiene standards and food quality.

Kiplings is a casual restaurant serving both regional Indian classics and modern and innovative Asian dishes.

They offer a world of flavors and spices with their chef preparing all their authentic dishes completely fresh.

Ehsan Khan, 21, has been the restaurant manager for four years, working seven days a week, and awards the award to his staff and customers.

“It’s very pleasant. It’s a great achievement,” he said.

“It is a family business and we have been here since 1994. I am very grateful to the staff and especially the customers who have supported us throughout this time.

“It has been difficult to bring people back from Covid but we have learned to adapt.

“We are a take-out restaurant. There are 45 seats inside and we also do a delivery service.

“Being passionate about where you eat is our motto at Kiplings. Great food, great place and great atmosphere.”

A key cog in the restaurant is Eshan’s father, Tariq Mahmood.

In 2016, Mr. Mahmood was named the best in his trade in the north of England, winning the Chef of the Year (North) award at the English Curry Awards.

He has been a curry cook for over 30 years and has worked for Kipling’s for over a quarter of a century.

Telegraph & Argus reporter Brad Deas is a long-time Kiplings customer and has given the rave reviews.

He said: “I grew up eating the best Indian food at Kiplings and it’s still my absolute favorite today, decades later.

“It’s not just about the amazing curry, but the atmosphere inside – friendly, warm and always willing to go the extra mile.

“The quality and atmosphere of the place have always remained, despite several transformations over time.

“It’s so good to see that their effort and hard work has been rewarded with another award – well deserved.”
