A restaurant in East Lancashire managed to win an award earlier this week and was named ‘most wanted’ and popular in the North West.

Asian restaurant Aroma in Burnley won the award for “Northwestern Most Wanted Restaurant of the Year” at the prestigious 2021 English Curry Awards.

The awards ceremony, which took place in Birmingham on Tuesday, October 19, is a celebration of local businesses and the winners are chosen by the public.

Aroma, on Church Street in Burnley, is the only Lancashire restaurant to win an award despite 10 Lancashire companies making it to the final.

Abdul Majeed, owner of Aroma Asian, said he and the team were “thrilled” with the victory.

He added: “It is obviously a huge privilege and we are very happy.

“We have won the Best Restaurant in the Northwest twice and this time we won the“ Most Wanted Restaurant in the Northwest ”award.

“The staff are so happy with the victory – it’s because of all their hard work and no doubt the support of our customers. ”

Mr Majeed added that “most wanted” means “popularity” and recognition “means people want to visit the restaurant and go there again and again”.

Abdul explained that customers and constituents were most likely impressed with the restaurant’s “contemporary” and “modern” heart.

He explains: “We have given the cuisine a modern touch, which makes us very different from others.

“I want to dedicate the prize to my staff, my customers and all my regulars. Without their support, this would not have happened.

Many customers quickly congratulated the restaurant on their victory.

One person said, “Very well deserved. Fabulous food ”

Another wrote: Wonderful! And so deserved! I have never had a bad meal at Aroma.

“This is wonderful news,” said another. “We’ll have to go downstairs and have a curry to celebrate.”

Irfan Younis, CEO of the company behind the award, Oceanic Consulting, said: “We are honored and delighted to have such great finalists and winners representing the English curry industry and strengthening its reputation nationally and international.

“We were very happy to welcome the guests and celebrate with them. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners!
