Kismet Modern Indian opens Wednesday in Old Town Alexandria with a Michelin-awarded chef heading Restaurant Virginia.

Kismet Modern Indian at 111 N. Pitt St., three blocks from the Torpedo Factory and the Alexandria waterfront, is Karma Modern Indian’s sister restaurant near Chinatown in downtown DC, and its chef, Ajay Kumar, will run the kitchen in the old town. also.



Karma Modern Indian was among the winners of this year’s Michelin Bib Gourmand Awards, which recognize high quality restaurants at a moderate price.

The off-street restaurant features a courtyard patio and outdoor seating for 35 people, as well as seating for 85 in the main dining area.

Starters include dishes like puffed rice, date and green chutney chutney, lamb kebab, and tandoori shrimp, with apps priced between $ 10 and $ 15. Main courses, priced between $ 22 and $ 34, include peri-peri snapper, chicken tikka masala, and roast lamb ghee. The menu items include spicy and vegan options.

There are also breads, side dishes and desserts.

Kismet Modern Indian will be open five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, and also includes take out.
