An Indian restaurant in central Milton Keynes has been named a finalist for the 2021 English Curry Awards.
The independent Maaya Indian Kitchen & Bar, part of the Hub, has received nominations for “Best Indian Restaurant” and “Best Indian Chef” categories.
The awards celebrate Asian talent in the UK curry industry, highlighting the growth of the Asian curry industry and recognizing the achievements of those who work hardest to perfect every meal.
Maaya owner Mo Abdul said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognized at the 2021 Curry Awards. The nominations are a testament to the food, culture, teamwork and experience here at Maaya, and our presence at the awards ceremony will certainly be a welcome boost after a difficult time for the entertainment industry.
Maaya will now be judged on her innovative activity and will take into consideration community engagement, charitable support and creativity, such as the Starship Robot delivery partnership.
Mo said, “We cannot thank our wonderful customers and community enough for their continued support, and we look forward to taking first place in both categories next month.”
Maaya will know if they will be crowned the winners at a ceremony in Birmingham next month.
A spokesperson for the 2021 English Curry Awards said: “The curry campaign has been a huge success across the UK with Scottish, English and London editions for the awards. The English Curry Awards were one of our first and remain one of our best prizes. It’s always a brilliant evening of fun, food and celebration.
“Despite the many challenges facing the curry industry, these awards prove year after year how much talent fuels the industry, satisfying our every curry craving. We have an abundance of talent and fierce competition this year and we wish all the finalists good luck. “
Maaya won the Best Indian Restaurant in the Region at the English Curry Awards in 2019.
