BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) – Restaurant owners in Bristol, Va. will have a new option at their disposal offering Indian cuisine.

Owners of Wonderland Lounge and Grill in Johnson City, Dr. Meenu Singh and Sunny Singh, are working on opening The Red Pepper Indian Cuisine on Gate City Highway later in May.

Co-owner Sunny Singh said during a May 2 reveal with city officials that their latest venture was a long time coming. Singh said several people in Johnson City told them they had to bring their food to Bristol.

“We had planned to [the] last two years, then suddenly the pandemic happened and we stopped looking for the place,” Sunny Singh said. “Then after everything started to go normal, we stumbled upon this place.”

He said the restaurant’s location was key, being right off the freeway and giving nearby offices another place to dine.

“There are a lot of offices over there, it will help us at lunchtime,” Sunny Singh said. “That’s why we’re going to have a lunch buffet. So that they don’t have to wait, the lunch buffet is ready.

The Red Pepper will be closed on Mondays.

The lunch buffet will serve customers from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. From 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Red Pepper will be closed while the staff prepares the dinner service with fresh food. Dinner will be served from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. without the buffet.

The location is just off State Street and will be close to the future home of the Hard Rock Bristol Casino.
