A RESTAURANT owner hit back at diners who claimed his food ruined their family’s Christmas when they didn’t get a traditional roast.
Rick Aprino, his partner and their four children visited Ruposhi Indian Bar & Restaurant in Bury in Greater Manchester on Christmas Day.
They ordered two Indian dinners for the two adults and their children requested traditional Christmas dinners.
But the father says his children were served chicken, fries and half a fried tomato before the family came home.
And in a scathing Tripadvisor review, he wrote: “What an absolute restaurant joke – Christmas dinner was ruined for our kids on the spur of the moment at this establishment.”
The review left manager Shah Munim puzzled, who explained that they don’t make traditional Christmas dinners because so few customers ordered it – and let diners know in advance.
He said it wasn’t worth “all the hard work” but that the diners were getting what they ate.
Mr Munim said, âWe want to make our customers happy. We gave them options. And they chose chicken and chips.
“I totally agree with them, they are not happy. I did my best.”
He says he wrote to Tripadvisor to complain about the review.
His restaurant hosted around 80 diners on Christmas Day, including one who left a five-star review.
Other diners were happy with the meal, with one saying: “We came on Christmas Day, six of us, great food, again fantastic service and curries from the staff were perfect. Thank you for a lovely meal. ”
Mr Munim said it had been difficult to operate a hotel business during the pandemic, and bad online reviews can make things more difficult.
He said, âIt’s easy for them to write a review on Tripadvisor, but it’s tough to run a business and keep customers happy,â he said.
People who read the review online quickly agreed with Mr. Munim’s position.
One person wrote: âThey ordered chicken and fries and got chicken and fries. Why go to a place where your kids don’t like the food on offer? “

Another said, “Nothing wrong with chicken and fries”.
Another wondered, âIf the menu was pre-booked, why go there and eat the food and probably say how nice it was, then come home and write a rude review? !! someone is either trying to get a meal or some money for it. I just hope the restaurateur doesn’t give in to them. ”
