We all love South Indian recipes such as idli, dosa, uttapam et al. All of these South Indian delicacies are widely available in Delhi NCR. But when it comes to options beyond these staples, we struggle to name a single restaurant that has it all. The incredible list participant, Thalaivar is exactly here to change that. This restaurant offers a wide variety of authentic South Indian dishes. As the name suggests, Thalaivar, the patron of South Indian cuisine, this place started its culinary offerings at a restaurant located in the village of Hauz Khas. Later it spread to a magnificent restaurant in Worldmark, Gurugram. The chic vibe of this place is brought to life by brightly colored furniture popping up in the upholstery. Lovers of terraces, this place also offers this with comfortable chairs and a space covered with plants all around.
“According to the founder and owner, Abhishek Tikoo, the idea behind the menu was to select hidden culinary gems from the southern states and present them together from the coastal state of Kerala in the heart of Karnataka.”
Coming to our experience, we started our meal with drinks like pineapple rasam, cold coffee and lemonade as well as entrees like 65 chicken and roasted shrimp masala. This whole combination of drinks and entrees was extraordinarily delicious. Everything came with a delicious twist, but for us the star of the meal was the pineapple rasam with papad. Certainly, this unique recipe is one of a kind.
For the main courses we had chicken biryani which was made with short grain rice (jeera samba rice). Trust us this biryani was different and just as delicious.
Finally, we had the exquisite chocolate dosa to end the meal on a sweet note. Plus, their creamy frothy filter coffee brightened up the whole ambiance and of course the meal.
