Some Interesting Tesla Superchargers plans have leaked. Electrek reports, via a discovery made by the Twitter account for all things future Supercharger @MarcoRPTeslathis Tesla plans to build a Supercharger with a restaurant and movie theater so drivers can eat or watch a movie while their vehicles charge.

Originally plans were in place to build an Scharger with a restaurant nearby santa monica. In 2018, Tesla had applied for permits in the city for such a place to be built. Those plans fell through or something because the location has now changed to Hollywood. The address for permits and plans is 7001 Santa Monica Boulevard at the intersection of Orange Drive.

The plan calls for the construction of a two-story restaurant on the current location of a Shakey pizzeria. The restaurant has a typical layout with a bars, kiosks, an outdoor bar and a car jump area where servers can bring food to vehicles.

The second floor has a rooftop bar, rows of theater-style seating, and another standing bar behind those seats.

The car park, which is already large, will have 29 places for Superchargers out of a total of 34 places. The last five spaces will be reserved for Level 2 charging. The car park will be flanked by two large cinema screens that can be seen by both those at the Superchargers and those at the rooftop bar.

This theater will apparently not be a movie theater in the typical sense. Since Superchargers tend to recharge quickly, shorts of 30 minutes or less will be filtered out. And hearing “drive-in cinema and restaurant” can evoke visions of old-school design, the entire property seems to be moving towards a certain type of modern aesthetic with bamboos located on the north and west sides of the property.

There are a lot of unanswered questions here. Mainly: Will Tesla buy out the existing restaurant there so he can tear it down for dinner? How will Tesla handle the traffic situation? It is a busy street that crosses smaller and narrower streets. While it’s an interesting concept to give people something to do while their cars juice up, this place is going to be a disaster for traffic in the area if it’s ever built.
