Days after the horrific shooting at a Texas elementary school that left 21 dead, US Senator Ted Cruz was confronted by an angry citizen.

Friday, the Texas Republican Legislator was at a sushi dinner when he was interrupted by someone for the former’s hardline stance on guns.

Video of the incident was widely shared on social media. In the 20-second clip, the man is heard saying, “Nineteen children are dead! It’s in your hands! Ted Cruz, it’s in your hands! “. While other customers are watching. Near the end of the video, Cruz’s security guards are seen holding the man down and then forcibly escorting him away. LOOK

The man in the video has been identified as Benjamin Hernandez. He told HuffPost he was in Houston to livestream the protests outside the NRA convention. He said he saw Cruz enter the same restaurant and decided to confront him.

TED CRUZ AT THE NRA CONVENTION

Meanwhile, Cruz had taken the stage at the National Rifle Association convention in Houston. There, the lawmaker had rallied to Democrats’ calls for universal background checks for gun purchases and a ban on assault weapons. Instead, he claimed the real issues were broken families, declining church attendance, social media bullying and video games.

“Tragedies like this week’s event are a mirror that forces us to ask tough questions, demanding that we see where our culture is failing,” he said. “We must not respond to evil and tragedy by abandoning the Constitution or undermining the rights of our law-abiding citizens,” he was quoted by AP.

TEXAS SCHOOL SHOOTING

On May 24, an armed teenager shot and killed 21 people, including 19 children and two teachers. Seventeen other people were injured in the incident, which happened at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The 18-year-old shooter, Salvador Rolando Ramos, was shot and killed during the incident.

The incident has reignited the debate over much-needed gun reforms. And Ted Cruz is at the heart of this problem.
